About
Mayon 360_mapathon is a mapping effort by the CWTS ENGG GE classes under the UP Department of Geodetic Engineering to map towns around Mayon Volcano, Albay, Philippines using OpenStreetMap. Mount Mayon is the most active volcano in the Philippines with an almost regular eruptive cycle (with eruptions within 5-10 year periods). Albay is also a disaster prone province ranking very high in terms of combined risks to Geophysical and Climate disasters (ESSC Study). A highly detailed map of Mount Mayon and the population within its slopes will be useful for disaster preparedness, mitigation and management efforts. You can check back on this site to watch these town maps grow in detail or join the effort in creating the freely available map for the residents of Albay.
